Women rights awareness, Advocacy and Leadership Education

In Uganda, women's roles were clearly surbordinate to those of men, despite the substantial economic and social responsibilities of women in many traditional societies. Today many still succumb to domestic violence.

This affects production as above 75% of the agricultural labour is provided by women and feed their families on farming.

MAFA has focused on promoting women's human rights through a vibrant, dynamic and proactive women's movement that is inclusive, democratic and highly able to achieve a collective voice on women and gender issues that influence and shape their destiny. It is from this intervention that many of our women farmers now own land while some have come up to take up leadership roles in their communities.
